Welcome to the Hathersage Cricket Club play-cricket website.
AFTER 160 years of cricket in the village there's plenty of history surrounding Hathersage CC, but there's also plenty of focus on the future here in the heart of Derbyshire's Hope Valley.
From April through to September we're happy to welcome visiting teams and lovers of the game to our picturesque Baulk Lane ground and throughout the year the club plays a central role in the life of the community.
Currently the club has two senior teams who play in the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League. Last season the 1st XI consolidated their position in the top division, while the 2nd XI missed out on promotion to Division 3 by one point. Our midweek team play in the Orme Shield, which we won in 2005.
We also take part in the Npower Village knockout and the pavillion is full of memorabilia from the exploits of players past and present. Perhaps the club's finest hour came in 2007 when, as Derbyshire Champions, we went on to reach the National Semi-Finals, but just one game away from Lords we lost to the eventual winners.
This season we will be playing a number of friendlies on Sundays, while we are also looking to expand our Junior XI fixtures to include Sunday fixtures.
We are always keen to attract new players, of all ages, to the club as well as encouraging the parents of younger cricketers to get involved off the field. We also have an U11 Kwik Cricket side.
Away from the cricket field HCC likes to think of itself as a friendly club, with the emphasis on enjoying the sociable side of the game. So if you're interested come along and enjoy all that our friendly village club has to offer.
Thanks to NFU Mutual (Chapel-en-le-Frith) for acting as our official match ball sponsors for 2011.
